Color Theory

What are pixels? The basic unit of programmable color on a digital display or image 2.How is color viewed in computer monitors? Colors in monitors are viewed in RGB, Red Green Blue which derives from and is equivalent to white light. 3. What is the additive color space? Additive color space is the white light that produces red, green, blue. 4. Describe which additive color sliders values in InDesign you would use to make white and black.   Indesign has the the tint slider to adjust the saturation of the color we intend to use. Black would be set to (R: 0 G: 0 B:0.) White would be set to (R: 255 G: 255 B: 255) . 5. What is the subtractive color space? The color space where cyan, magenta, yellow, and black is produced in pigment and paint. Printers are known to be based on CYMK subtractive colors. 6. Describe which subtractive color sliders values in InDesign you would use to make white and black. ...

Hierarchy on Grid

Image
For this design I made long paragraphs of placeholder text to go beyond the flow lines  of the 4x4 grid. The only modules present are the ones in the at the upper and lower parts of the center. The text was flipped by 90 degrees to be directed downwards but the fill in the negative space of two modules. In addition there are only three horizontal rows present and 2 columns are  being utilized. By using the negative space by the unfilled modules to create a feeling of rising. The text remain and don't pass through the flowlines and are equally spaced from each other by the intervals. The bottom row has the most horizontal text boxes  However the top column on the far right has the vertical text stacked upon each other. From the first row to the fourth row in 4x4 grid, each row has more box stacked upon...

Gestalt Grid

Image
Proximity The grid above shows the gestalt principle of proximity. I wanted all of the boxes to remain on their flowline and column. All of the rows only consist of two boxes distanced from each other by singular modules in the 4x4 grid. These modules aren't considered spatial zones because the negative space or modules isn't grouped together in one specific spot. There are only individual modules between the boxes.                                                                 Closure The typed boxes are closing in but there remains minor negative space. This negative is present due to the 4 central modules not being filled to the flowline. Which is why the gap or referred to as the negative space is located at the center of the grid. The text inside the boxes remain untouched in the columns and rows of the grid. Similar...

Gridded Concert Poster

Image
First thing that came to my mind was "how I was I going to organize the objects on the grid" and how I wanted the poster to look. The poster was meant to look classy and somewhat old since the "White stripes" were mainly present making music in 1997-2011. Made sure the background and text would correlate with the colors of the band which are white, red, and black. By using the "crap" acronym the rest of the designing process was quite easy. Contrasting colors from each other and the background draw attention to the text and makes them legible to read. As well varying their sizes of the font and increasing the leading made the texts easier to read. I slightly changed the alignment of the ticket pricing to not make things seem so aligned and centralized which would the poster too bland and less appealing. Moreover, is also why the texts also have different proximity from each other. I decided to add a slogan to the poster "He will fight em off" t...

6 columns on two page spread

Image
The first thing that came to mind when I started this assignment was the topic of my so called "Article". Initially It was going to be Mario enemies but there isn't much to talk about them so there wouldn't be much text and would leave the modules quite empty with negative space. Instead I thought that the topic would be Spiderman villains since there is more to talk about them and it's much more interesting. For the titles and subtitles despite being limited to one font at least I would be able to work with the size and kerning of the titles. For the main title I wanted it to stick out so I styled it while maintaining to be inside the grid. "Spiderman" was meant to stick out so that way the reader would know what the main topic revolves around. Venoms title has much greater tracking between all of the letters in his name "VENOM". I made the text centralized and I altered the spacing of the words .To add on the certain villains I chose are t...
