Type Self Portrait

 I wasn't sure what font to use at first which made it difficult as to how to start of the portrait. However it would've been better to go for a serif font since it is less restricted that a sans serif font which allows for more precise letter placements and creativity. In terms of accuracy it is subpar compared to other works. I feel I could improve in letter variety to make certain areas of my portrait pop out more and be more accurate to my face. The areas of growth I've improved in would be creativity and decisiveness during the illustrating process such as using the parenthesis and "O" for the eyes. The curve of the parenthesis was versatile so it allowed me to also shape the ears very precise to the my self portrait model. The nose and hair were the most difficult parts for me to draw precisely to the original portrait of my mine since it was confusing how to use a variety of letters for those areas.        What I learned during the process for both portraits is the importance of lighting and shading in an image, photo, or drawing. It shows the direction where light is coming from and it's crucial to making the drawing more realistic and detailed for both gray and colored portraits. The colored portrait required more creativity but the same sense of detail as the grayscale portrait. By doing so I also learned how to use the gradient tool and the saturation settings in adobe. The color of my work can improve by adding additional lighting to the red collar and the silver webbing around it In the program the lighting of the hair is more present than shown in the image. The creative element my portrait shows is the reflection of my lenses since there is a balance of lighting between the shade and the illuminated parts of my cheeks.
