Self Painted Portrait

Image
So for this assignment I just wanted to focus on painting all the necessary details while making certain compromises. For instance the lighting and lining of my hair I just decided to lighting certain areas by filling them with lighter brown and using thin strokes to show the directions of where my hair was going. Also for my neck it may seem a tad bit irregular but that is only because I had to add lighting to the collar of my turtle neck which slightly changed the out come of my neck entire. I made sure to add shading around my eyes and in my ears to show that the light is coming from the front of my face. The weird blue path on the right...

Type Self Portrait

Image
I wasn't sure what font to use at first which made it difficult as to how to start of the portrait. However it would've been better to go for a serif font since it is less restricted that a sans serif font which allows for more precise letter placements and creativity. In terms of accuracy it is subpar compared to other works. I feel I could improve in letter variety to make certain areas of my portrait pop out more and be more accurate to my face. The areas of growth I've improved in would be creativity and decisiveness during the illustrating process such as using the parenthesis and "O" for the eyes. The curve of the parenthesis was versatile so it allowed me to also shape the ears very precise to the my self portrait model. The nose and hair were the most difficult parts for me to draw precisely to the original portrait of my mine since it was confusing how to use a variety of letters for those areas. The easiest part to draw for me at least was the ears sinc...

Giovanni Portrait

What I learned during the process for both portraits is the importance of lighting and shading in an image, photo, or drawing. It shows the direction where light is coming from and it's crucial to making the drawing more realistic and detailed for both gray and colored portraits. The colored portrait required more creativity but the same sense of detail as the grayscale portrait. By doing so I also learned how to use the gradient tool and the saturation settings in adobe. The color of my work can improve by adding additional lighting to the red collar and the silver webbing around it In the program the lighting of the hair is more present than shown in the image. The creative element my portrait shows is the reflection of my lenses since there is a balance of lighting between the shade and the illuminated parts of my cheeks. In addition the lighting of my hair is very distinct from the darker parts which makes the hair look very well done. I appreciate the fin...

Color Theory

What are pixels? The basic unit of programmable color on a digital display or image 2.How is color viewed in computer monitors? Colors in monitors are viewed in RGB, Red Green Blue which derives from and is equivalent to white light. 3. What is the additive color space? Additive color space is the white light that produces red, green, blue. 4. Describe which additive color sliders values in InDesign you would use to make white and black.   Indesign has the the tint slider to adjust the saturation of the color we intend to use. Black would be set to (R: 0 G: 0 B:0.) White would be set to (R: 255 G: 255 B: 255) . 5. What is the subtractive color space? The color space where cyan, magenta, yellow, and black is produced in pigment and paint. Printers are known to be based on CYMK subtractive colors. 6. Describe which subtractive color sliders values in InDesign you would use to make white and black. ...

Hierarchy on Grid

Image
For this design I made long paragraphs of placeholder text to go beyond the flow lines  of the 4x4 grid. The only modules present are the ones in the at the upper and lower parts of the center. The text was flipped by 90 degrees to be directed downwards but the fill in the negative space of two modules. In addition there are only three horizontal rows present and 2 columns are  being utilized. By using the negative space by the unfilled modules to create a feeling of rising. The text remain and don't pass through the flowlines and are equally spaced from each other by the intervals. The bottom row has the most horizontal text boxes  However the top column on the far right has the vertical text stacked upon each other. From the first row to the fourth row in 4x4 grid, each row has more box stacked upon...

Gestalt Grid

Image
Proximity The grid above shows the gestalt principle of proximity. I wanted all of the boxes to remain on their flowline and column. All of the rows only consist of two boxes distanced from each other by singular modules in the 4x4 grid. These modules aren't considered spatial zones because the negative space or modules isn't grouped together in one specific spot. There are only individual modules between the boxes.                                                                 Closure The typed boxes are closing in but there remains minor negative space. This negative is present due to the 4 central modules not being filled to the flowline. Which is why the gap or referred to as the negative space is located at the center of the grid. The text inside the boxes remain untouched in the columns and rows of the grid. Similar...

Gridded Concert Poster

Image
First thing that came to my mind was "how I was I going to organize the objects on the grid" and how I wanted the poster to look. The poster was meant to look classy and somewhat old since the "White stripes" were mainly present making music in 1997-2011. Made sure the background and text would correlate with the colors of the band which are white, red, and black. By using the "crap" acronym the rest of the designing process was quite easy. Contrasting colors from each other and the background draw attention to the text and makes them legible to read. As well varying their sizes of the font and increasing the leading made the texts easier to read. I slightly changed the alignment of the ticket pricing to not make things seem so aligned and centralized which would the poster too bland and less appealing. Moreover, is also why the texts also have different proximity from each other. I decided to add a slogan to the poster "He will fight em off" t...
