Color Theory

  1. What are pixels?

The basic unit of programmable color on a digital display or image

2.How is color viewed in computer monitors?

Colors in monitors are viewed in RGB, Red Green Blue which derives from and is equivalent to white light.

3. What is the additive color space?

Additive color space is the white light that produces red, green, blue.
4. Describe which additive color sliders values in InDesign you would use to make white and black.

Indesign has the the tint slider to adjust the saturation of the color we intend to use. Black would be set to (R: 0 G: 0 B:0.) White would be set to (R: 255 G: 255 B: 255) .

5. What is the subtractive color space?

The color space where cyan, magenta, yellow, and black is produced in pigment and paint. Printers are known to be based on CYMK subtractive colors.

6. Describe which subtractive color sliders values in InDesign you would use to make white and black.

In this case white of CYMK is the absence of color so everything is set at zero in the slider. However black is set at (C: 75 M:68 Y:67 K:90)

7.What is color calibration?
The measure the input and output of color on a screen

8. How does the PMS (Pantone Matching System) color system ensure color fidelity?

The Pantone Matching System standardizes colors and assigns each color a certain number and name. By using the Pantone system, people in different locations can refer to the same color by knowing the number that identifies that color. Since each color has its own unique number and when it finds a match, it is used in the printing process

       9.What is the analog color?

Analog(ous) colors are when colors are very similar to each other, especially when they are next to each other on a color wheel

10.What is the digital color?

Colors that are used digitally which are RGB (Red,Green,Blue) and CMYK (Cyan,Magenta,Yellow,Black).
